A SUNNY DAY IN GLASGOW
A Sunny Day in Glasgow began in 2006 as the bedroom recording project of Ben Daniels. After inviting his sisters to join the "band" as singers, the three released 1 album Scribble Mural Comic Journal, 2 EPs The Sunniest Day Ever & Tout New Age and several singles. ASDiG's dreamy mix of electronics, noise-pop, and MELODY drew widespread praise from all corners of the music world, from Pitchfork to the BBC to random blogs across the globe. This acclaim was augmented by successful tours of North America and Europe, including a show at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, and shows with M83, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Glass Candy, and Telepathe.
During the recording of the band's latest album, Ashes Grammar, ASDiG would undergo some major changes. With sister Lauren moving to Colorado for grad school and Robin tending to her broken-legged boyfriend (bass player Brice), Ben and drummer/guitarist/everythingist Josh Meakim were about to call it quits. After being introduced to Annie Fredrickson, a classically trained cellist and pianist who would join the band as a singer, Ben, Josh, and Annie spent many many long weekends and nights together finishing what would become Ashes Grammar and becoming friends.
When it came time to tour for Ashes Grammar, Ryan Newmyer, who introduced Annie to Ben & Josh, joined the band as bass player. And with Josh moving from drums to guitar and vocals, friend and local Philly legend Adam Herndon came on board to play the drums. Finally, after a pretty crazy, world-wide singer search, Brooklynite Jen Goma joined to fill out the vocals. This band will be putting out lots of records and touring like crazy in 2010.
