Coeur de pirate

For over 15 years now, Béatrice Martin, a.k.a. Cœur de pirate, has been a staple of Francophone pop music and a balm for broken hearts. The singer-songwriter has written finely crafted songs that include subtle piano compositions and disco bangers throughout her dazzling career, with over a million records sold. She has performed her introspective, carefree and at times subversive songs in sold-out venues in Quebec and France. She continues to stand out thanks to her signature spirit. Thanks to her intimate, distinctive voice and the enigmatic veil in which she remains shrouded, she draws us in while keeping us on our toes.

After storming onto the scene with a self-titled debut album in 2008 when she wasjust 19, Cœur de pirate became an instant sensation. The vibrant piano andvocal compositions on her debut album helped her go platinum in Canada and diamond in France. She won the Félix award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year (the first Félix in a long series), and the Victoire de la musique award in the Original Song of the Year category for Comme des enfants. Throughout the years, the pop icon’s music has become increasingly vibrant, and she has enjoyed a string of successes and sold-out tours, blossoming with Blonde (2011, certified platinum in Canada and France, earning her the Félix awardsfor Female Performer of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Quebec Artist ofthe Year with the most appearances outside Quebec), Roses (2015, her first bilingual offering, which earned her the Félix for English-language Album of the Year), En cas de tempête, ce jardin sera fermé (2018, earning her the Félix for Female Vocalist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for a second time, as well as the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year award), Perséides (2021, an instrumental debut) and Impossible à aimer (2021, for which she also won a Juno for Francophone Album of the Year). These six acclaimed albums have seen her perform around the globe, often in Canada and France, but also the United States, Belgium, England, Italy, Germany and Mexico.

Alongside her solo work, Béatrice Martin has been the face of prestigious brands (Fendi,Yves St-Laurent, Perrier) and has added the voice of Cœur de pirate to songs by renowned artists (Georgio’s Concept flou, Kyo’s cover of Dernière danse). She has also composed soundtracks for the video game Child of Light and the fifth season of the Quebec TV series Trauma, taken part in the popular French TV show Danse avec les stars, judged the eighth season of La Voix in Quebec and starred in the renovation show Les 12 travaux de Béatrice. Finally, since 2021, she has been President and Artistic Director of the Bravo Musique label and its roster of artists, taking over the reins of the label that made her a household name to help upcoming artists reach as many people as possible.
