Emmanuel Jal

From his start in life as a child soldier in the war-torn region of Southern Sudan in the early 1980s, Emmanuel Jal has come through a huge number of struggles during his life to become a successful and acclaimed recording artist, peace ambassador and social entrepreneur. Emmanuel has spoken at TED Global, G20, Virgin Unite and UN Humanitarian Day alongside Ban Ki Moon (to name a few). As well he has performed at numerous prominent concerts and festivals (Live Aid, Nelson Mandela’s Birthday, Montreal Jazz, Vancouver & Edmonton Folk Festivals, Glastonbury and Womad amongst others).

The Juno nominated Musician, Actor, and Campaigner Emmanuel has just released his 7th studio album “Shangah”. With this release Emmanuel continues to carve a way forward for a distinct ‘South Sudanese Sound’ whilst balancing influences from Kenya and other African countries. In this vein, Jal brings out the unique flavours from his homeland, whilst making them accessible to wider audiences. Attached is an EPK for “Shangah”.
