About
GRAE’s music offers a sanctuary for the mind, a place to unwind and reflect. Her soft melodies and cathartic sounds provide both comfort and familiarity, while guiding listeners on a journey of self-discovery through deeply relatable lyrics. A fusion of '80s new wave and contemporary pop gives rise to her distinctive alt-pop sound. Based in Toronto, GRAE expresses herself most powerfully through her personal lyrics and commanding stage presence. As a multi-instrumentalist, her energy and charisma captivate audiences from the moment they lay eyes on her.
GRAE’s love for music began in her childhood, where iconic albums from the '70s and '80s were constantly playing on the record player in her home. Her influences span a wide range, from the timeless sounds of Prince and Michael Jackson to the emotive styles of Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd, all of which have shaped her unique sound. Growing up in a family that shared her passion for music, GRAE always felt destined to pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Asa teenager, she honed her craft by writing one hundred songs in her bedroom. Over the years, songwriting has become her primary outlet for self-expression, turning her emotions into art.
GRAE’s 2019 debut EP, New Girl, was a pivotal moment in her career, putting her name on the map. Following its release, her single Permanent Maniac earned a spot in Billboard’s ‘Top 30 Pop Songs of the Year’, and the Permanent Maniac EP has amassed over 15 million streams to date. GRAE has caught the attention of major media platforms, including Complex and Wonderland, and has been featured on popular Spotify playlists like Indie Pop& Chill, Indie Favourites, Outliers, and more. She was also named Apple Music Canada’s ‘Artist of the Week’. Both Permanent Maniac and Soft charted in the Top 40 on Canadian Alternative Radio, with Soft peaking at #4 on the CBC Top 20.
In 2022, GRAE released her debut album, Whiplash. This album helped me discover the artist I had been searching for and wanted to become. With Whiplash, I finally found a sound that I love and feel confident in. This body of work beautifully captures my evolution as an artist. Whiplash will always hold a special place in my heart—not only because it’s my debut album, which is a major milestone and accomplishment, but also because it showed me that I could evolve into an artist I'm truly proud of and create music that I love.
GRAE's most recent releases are American Dream, Dark Energy, Motorcade, and Cha-Ching. These songs will be on her next album, coming in 2025.
GRAE’s ongoing journey of self-discovery has unlocked new dimensions of her artistry—dimensions that her fans have yet to fully experience. With her upcoming releases, listeners can expect an elevated sound that highlights her growth and versatility as an artist. It’s a testament to the truth that, like all of us, GRAE is continuously evolving.
