About
After many years of refusals in all possible competitions, Lydia Képinski launched an EP in 2016 soberly called EP before winning almost all of the competition prizes at Francouvertes.
A first album, "PremierJuin", released at the beginning of summer 2018 under the Chivi label, Chivi takes her almost everywhere on the stages of Quebec and France. This opus received a reception commensurate with its audacity, both from professional critics and from an ever-increasing public flocking to the feet of the millennial prophet. In addition to being on the long list of the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, she won the “Pop Album of the Year” category at the GAMIQ Gala, the André-“Dédé”-Fortin Prize (emergence) at the SPACQ Gala and received 6 nominations at the ADISQ Gala including “Revelation of the Year”, “Album of the Year – Alternative” and “Album of the Year – Critics’ Choice”. In the same breath, Lydia Képinski presents the immersive and historical show Sadenight at the Gala ADISQ. Cinéma L'Amour in Montreal which it makes available in full on the Internet.
A year later, a complete rereading of this album by beatmakers such as Cri, Robert Robert and Ryan Playground offers us a striking kepi-mixtape with house, minimal or trance accents, as well as a video mixtape.
The Montrealer emerges in spring 2022 with a second chapter of eleven titles put together with Blaise Borboën-Léonard directing. Since then is the narrative of everything that has happened since the previous opus. Decidedly more pop, this album is an abundant mixture of autobiographical references and emancipatory adventures which deal with the vertigo of identity by taking refuge in History and a literary style which often borrows from mythology. Lydia Képinski delivers the first show of the album in Texas as part of South by Southest before a triumphant return to the roads of Quebec with more than 50 performances including sold-out launches in Montreal and Quebec, as well as several music festivals renowned (Quebec Summer Festival, Emerging Music Festival, Pop Montreal…) And to find yourself once again in the long list of the Polaris Music Prize, as well as a finalist for the Slaight Music Prize for an emerging songwriter, without forget the coronation in the “Pop Album of the Year” and “Videoclip of the Year – BB (Big Business)” categories at the GAMIQ Gala.
The doors to success open wide before this voice, as fragile as it is invincible, of Quebec song. We bet that one day we will know how to write our name correctly.
