Labeled by American Songwriter Magazineas “a dynamite vocalist, songwriter and guitar slingerto boot,” Raquel Cole has been singing and writing songs since acquiring her first guitar at the age of nine. She was inspired by hit songs she heard on the radio from artists like Shania Twain and Bryan Adams, but also from jamming to 70’s rock and roll with her dad in the basement of their home. After graduating high school, Cole had planned to go on to study jazz guitar, but instead followed her passion of songwriting with a move to Nashville.
Cole’s skill as a musician is one of the first things that her audience notices about this British Columbia native. She’s opened for artists like Carrie Underwood, Jonny Lang, Brothers Osborne,Scotty McCreery and Josh Turner.
In 2017, Raquel was named byThe CBC and Radio Canada as “25 under 25 musicians everyone needs to know,” alongside Alessia Cara and Shawn Mendes. Cole is a CCMA Award recipient,and the winner of many other accolades, including a top spot in an American Songwriting Magazine lyric contest, in U.S. Today as their exclusive "Playlist" pick, and in The International Songwriting Competition where her song, "Imogene" (from her 2018 debut album Personal Truth) took home 2nd place in the Unsigned Only Category. She was also a finalist in the renowned SiriusXMTop of the Country competition In 2021.
Cole has also found success writing for other artists and claimed her first Billboard Top 10 Country Album charting song recorded by superstar Marie Osmond. Cole released her first single, "Think About You" to Canadian Country Radio in the summer of 2021. It charted at number 43 and was named one of SiriusXM Country's biggest songs of that year. Raquel’s duet with Don Amero, “Let You,” hit the Top 25 at country radio and has surpassed more than 2 million global streams. After signing a record deal with Sakamoto Music in 2022, Raquel released the single “Hate That I Need You” to all streaming platforms, soon to be followed by the highly anticipated summer track “All To Yourself,” dropping in July 2023.
Compelled to always be creating she continues to write and record, but her heart belongs onthe road meeting her fans in person. Cole lives for sharing her songs from stage and the phenomenal experience that music can give. Look for Raquel this summer on some of Canada’s biggest stages, including Boots & Hearts (ON) and Denim on the Diamond (BC).
