SYML is the solo venture of artist Brian Fennell. Welsh for “simple”—hemakes music that taps into the instincts that drive us to places of sanctuary,whether that be a place or a person. Born and raised in Seattle, Fennellstudied piano and became a self-taught producer, programmer, and guitarist.

His first release, the self-titled debut album in 2019, included the multiplatinum song “Where’s My Love” and the Gold Single fan favorite “Girl." His2023 sophomore album, The Day My Father Died, described by NPRas “euphoric,” was recorded at Studio X in Seattle with fellow Seattleite andrenowned producer Phil Ek. The album features collaborations with Elbow’sGuy Garvey, Lucius, Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, and Charlotte Lawrence.

SYML is also known for his collaborations across genres, including a featureon Lana Del Rey’s song “Paris, TX,” from her Grammy-nominated album DidYou Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, and contributions tosongs by the UK-electronic artist George Fitzgerald and Colombian artist ElsaY Elmar. His work has become the soundtrack to countless films and TVshows, including his haunting cover of "Mr Sandman" in Behind Her Eyes and"Where's My Love," in everything from Maxton Hall to its first use in the cultdrama Teen Wolf, which propelled it to chart on Billboard for over twentyweeks.

In 2024, SYML launched the imprint, FIN. Recordings, a collaboration with hislabel, Nettwerk Music Group, and management Good Harbor Music and willrelease his third-full length album in 2025.
