The Debaters Live

The Debaters Live is the comedy stage show where comics go toe to toe in a battle of laughs and logic and the audience picks the winner. This special live event features host Steve Patterson and two of his favourite comics performing stand-up and two hilarious debates in the format made popular by the hit CBC Radio One program. This event is not a CBC Radio taping. Some language may be inappropriate for younger audiences.

Steve Patterson has been a professional headliner since 1997 and has taped numerous national television specials in the past decade including four Just For Laughs galas.  His performance in 2010 earned him a Gemini nomination and caused host Steve Martin afterwards to exclaim “If I’d have known he was going to be THAT good, I would have cancelled him.” Following that performance, Patterson was name Best Male Stand-up Comedian at the 2011 and 2013 Canadian Comedy awards and most recently has been nominated for the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards as Host on HGTV’s I Wrecked My House.  Steve’s nationally toured and award nominated theatre show entitled This is Not Debatable is now available on itunes and his “Book of Letters I Didn’t Know Where to Send” is available in bookstores nationwide.

Erica Sigurdson has appeared at every major comedy festival in Canada, recorded a television special on Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan and performed at the most Northern Point on the globe inhabited by humans. Erica was named “Funniest Female Comic” at the 2015 Winnipeg Comedy Festival and is also a Leo Award Winning comedy screenwriter. In addition to entertaining Canadians in comedy clubs and festivals, Erica is also one of Canada’s most in-demand entertainers for corporate events. Her first humour book is due in 2017.

Sean Lecomber is a CBC Debaters regular who filmed his first Just for Laughs gala in 2013 and is the winner of the Just for Laughs homegrown competition. Sean’s other festival credits include 3 appearances at the Halifax comedy festival as well as the Winnipeg comedy festival in 2013 and 2016. He has written for This Hour Has 22 Minutes and is a two time Canadian comedy award nominee. His work can also be heard on XM Radio.
